Traveling in Tuscany is simply fantastic. If you know your way around a bit, you can choose whether you want to dive deep inside its cities, full of history and italian glamour, or refresh your soul traveling among enchanted woods and hills. I usually go for the latter, since I live in the center of Pisa, the town of the Leaning tower, and already have my share of cities.
I have to say I am in love with Tuscany hills and its small medieval towns. The hills are the hottest place whether you want to enjoy a new sight or want to test your mettle as a biker.
Last sunday I went up the hils just before the renowned Lunigiana heights: I reached Borgo a Mozzano, and then headed to Barga, but first I had stop and admire the famed Devil’s Bridge on the way to the hills:
When I reached Barga, after a fun and entertaining trip along sweet and narrow curves, I could enjoy its medieval flavour, and the sweet sight of the hills and the green land all around me.
The town itself is beautiful, with all the ancient buildings climbing on the slope of the hill; it will cost you some sweat to reach the top, but once you’re in the square of the main Church, you will not regret it, I assure you.
You will enjoy exploring all the little, sheltering streets, and its typical shops, or resting in the cozy, comfortable little corners and squares while enjoying the sights and the smells of the town.
All in all, I never get tired of visiting all these medieval little towns in Tuscany, they all offer some nice, tidy and refreshing place where to spend some time.
